Disciplinary punishment rules for prosecutors issued

The Supreme People's Procuratorate(SPP) has publicized a series of stringent regulations on disciplinary punishment in an effort to rectify prosecutor's behavior at work as well as in private life.

A senior official with the SPP said the disciplinary punishment rules attach great importance to ruling out corruption and building a clean and honest prosecutor team.

Divided into three chapters and 118 items, the disciplinary punishment rules describe the punishment, including disciplinary warning, demotion and expulsion, for 81 kinds of improper behaviors.

Prosecutors who give physical punishment to criminal suspects during interrogation will be given a disciplinary warning, demotedor removed from their posts according to the seriousness of their cases.

Prosecutors who conduct illegal body or residence searches willbe dealt with according to the seriousness of their cases.

Prosecutors who delay interrogation or lose confidential files will be punished.

Punishment will also be given to prosecutors who carry guns and ammunition to public venues without permission and those who lend guns and ammunition to others without permission.

Different punishments has been set for prosecutors who use public funds to travel, entertain and shop, and those who accept litigant's gifts, according to the seriousness of their cases.

Prosecutors who violate the birth-control law will be expelled;prosecutors who participate in gambling for profits or provide shelter for gamblers will be discharged from their posts demoted, and prosecutors who participate in street fights and scuffles willalso be punished.

Prosecutors who have extramarital affairs will be expelled, demoted, or given disciplinary warning according to the seriousness of their cases.
