font size

Jordanian chartered airline, Jordan Aviation, was banned from flying in and out of France after checks by the French and Italian authorities showing serious oversights in security arrangements, the French civil aviation authority (DGAC) announced Friday.

"Security checks by the French and Italian authorities on aircraft belonging to Jordan Aviation during stops on European territory brought to light serious security lapses," the DGAC saidin a statement.

"These checks led the French and Italian authorities to ban flights in and out of France as from today," said the statement, without specifying the concrete shortcomings.

About 19 flights of Jordan Aviation between French airports and destinations in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia, Ivory Coast and Mali from Saturday to Monday were likely to be canceled, according to the DGAC.
