Top military men of India, Pakistan to begin discussion on Siachen

Top military personnel of India and Pakistan will begin discussions on Siachen, the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported Friday.

Military personnel of the two countries will meet for discussing the demilitarization exercise and report back to their respective governments, PTI quoted Defense Minister Pranab Mukherjee, who has made his first trip to the icy heights of Siachen, as saying at Siachen base camp.

However, he did not indicate when the talks may be held.He was replying to a question on how progress could be achieved in the Indo-Pak talks on demilitarization of Siachen.

After two days of talks last week, India and Pakistan on Aug. 6 agreed to continue discussions on Siachen and resolve the issue in a peaceful way.

During his two-day trip, Mukherjee visited forward locations on the glacier as well as Kargil and Drass on the Line of Control.
