UK warns nationals against travel to W. Bank, Gaza

The British government on Friday warned its nationals not to travel to two key West Bank cities and the Gaza Strip.

"We advise against all travel to Nablus, Jenin and the Gaza Strip outside Gaza City. We strongly advise against all travel to the West bank and Gaza Strip at night. We advise against all but essential travel to Gaza City, and most of the West Bank," the British Foreign Office said on in a statement.

"We continue to advise against travel along Israel's border with Lebanon, and close to the Israeli side of the Israel-Gaza Strip border," the statement said.

According to the Foreign Office, it amended its travel advice for Israel and the occupied territories to reflect the continuing deterioration in law and order across the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

The amended travel advice came after three British journalists and two Palestinian civilians were held at gunpoint on Thursday for four hours by a group of Israeli soldiers in Nablus.

Earlier reports said they apparently stumbled into an undercover Israeli security operation.
