Brazil broke the scoring record in Olympic women's basketball as it beat Japan 128-62 at a preliminary pool A match Saturday.
Those are the most points scored by any team since women's basketball became an Olympic event in 1976, when Japan beat Canada 121-76 in Montreal.
Brazil also tied the record for margin of victory, 66 points, matching the difference posted by the Soviet Union in a 119-53 victory over Italy in 1980 at Moscow.
