Women's 10m air pistol: Defending champ Tao bumped out of final

Defending Olympic champion Tao Luna was eliminated from the women's 10m air pistol final at the Athens Games on August 15.

Tao, who has been struggling with dismal form since this year, scored 366 points in the 40-shot qualification round, placing joint 38th among the 40 competitors. The 30-year-old equaled the

Olympic qualification record of 390 points en route to taking the title in Sydney in 2000.

Compatriot Ren Jie was sixth in the qualification round on 384 points, three points behind leader Jasna Sekaric of Serbia and

Montenegro.

Following is the start list for the women's 10m air pistol final at the Olympic Games here on Sunday:

1. Jasna Sekaric, Serbia and Montenegro, 387

2. Irada Ashumova, Azerbaijian, 386

3. Natalia Paderina, Russia, 386

4. Maria Grozdeva, Bulgaria, 386

5. Munkhbayar Dorjsuren, Germany, 385

6. Ren Jie, China, 384

7. Cornelia Froelich, Switzerland, 384

8. Olena Kostevych, Ukraine, 384
