The entrance into the quarter-final was surprisingly shut to South Korea's women's singles 6th seed Jun Jae Youn, who lost her second match to Cheng Shao-Chieh of Chinese Taipei 11-3, 6-11 and 4-11.
Jun Jae Youn, 2004 Asian champion, found no difficulties to crush the rookie from Chinese Taipei in the first set of her second match in the 28th Olympic badminton tournament, however, she looked completely lost on the court in the second and third
sets, exerting little resistance to Cheng's powerful shots.
"I feel quite satisfied with the second and third sets, in which I play excellent attacks, and I don't know what's the problem for Jun," said 18-year-old Cheng, a rising star for Chinese Taipei.
In another match, Prapakamol/Thungthongkam of Thailand, seeded 5th in mixed doubles of the event, were also stopped by unseeded
Bergstrom/Persson of Sweden 3-15, 17-14 and 15-3.
Top seeds Kim Dong Moon/Ra Kyung Min entered quarter-final easily, trouncing Chris Bruil/Lotte Bruil of the Netherlands 15-4,15-6.
