China's Wu Meijin, a world champion and an Olympic debutant, sets to challenge weightlifting legend Halil Mutlu of Turkey in the men's 56kg division at the Athens Games on August 15.
Wu said he would try to do "the impossible" to upset Mutlu, who has a personal best over Wu of 30kg.
Mutlu, whose name in Turkish means "happy", has not lost a major competition during the past nine years and he is considered the hottest ticket in the 56 discipline at the Games.
Another Turkish athlete Sedat Artuc is a possible podium finisher. He became the European champion a few months ago in Ukraine.
On the women's side on Sunday, only eight lifters are participating in the 53kg class.
Romania's Maroara Munteanu won a silver in the 2004 European Championships, with Anastasia Novikava of Belarus third. Both are expected to play a leading role in Athens.
Lisa Raema Rumbewas, a silver medalist in Sydney in the 48kg class, will try to be the first Indonesian athlete to win a medal in successive Olympics.
The Athens Olympics weightlifting competitions reeled off Saturday when Nurcan Taylan of Turkey grabbed the gold in the women's 48kg.
