Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez says he, like any normal Venezuelans, will accept the result of the recall referendum, which will decide whether the President can govern for the next two years.
Because of the large population of voters and slow polling process, the National Electoral Council decided to extend the voting period for a second time, to midnight Sunday local time, says a report by China Raido International.
The electoral authorities have also asked the voters to register their fingerprints after voting so as to speed up the process.
Meanwhile, at least two people were killed and 11 others wounded when gunmen opened fire on voters just outside Caracas.
Chavez, who was elected in 1998 and re-elected to a six-year term in 2000, has been accused by his opponents of wrecking Venezuela's economy.
In June, the National Electoral Council announced that the opposition had collected enough signatures to hold a recall vote.
