Three US soldiers were killed on Sunday during clashes with Shiite militiamen in the Iraqi province of Najaf, the US military said in a statement on Monday.
"Three US soldiers attached to the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit were killed as a result of enemy action in the Najaf province on August 15," the statement said.
The latest casualties brought to 937 the number of US soldiers killed in Iraq since the beginning of the US-led invasion in March last year.
