Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong said Tuesday in Beijing that China regards its relations with Nepal as an important link in its relationships with neighboring countries.
Zeng made the remark during his meeting with visiting Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Nepal Paras Bir Bikram Shah Dev in the Great Hall of the People Tuesday afternoon.
Zeng said no matter what changes occur internationally, China will remain steady and fast in its policy toward Nepal.
Noting that China and Nepal are close neighbors sharing a long history of friendly communication, he said the two countries have treated each other as equals and enjoyed mutual trust and support over the years.
Although the two countries are of different sizes and national conditions, they have maintained the momentum of sustained, healthy relations, Zeng said. He said their relations are a model of friendly co-existence between countries with different social systems.
Zeng said China cherishes its traditional friendship with Nepalas it pursues foreign policy of treating neighbors as friends and partners.
Paras said the royal family and government of Nepal appreciate the long-term assistance and support of China. He said Nepal will always support China on such issues as Taiwan, human rights and Tibet, adding that the country is willing to expand mutually beneficial exchange and cooperation in all fields with China.
