All the 19 miners survived a coalmine flooding in Jiangxi Province, thanks to timely rescue efforts, officials said Wednesday.

The flooding occurred at around 7:00 p.m. in Xikeng coal mine of Yangqiao township in Fenyi county. Three miners escaped by themselves shortly after the accident. The 16 others were trapped in the mine until rescuers drained all water by 9:00 a.m. Wednesday. They have been brought to the ground safe and sound.

The coal mine is run by the Yangqiao township government, according to Jiangxi provincial coal mine safety administration.
