The painting exhibition to commemorate 100th anniversary of Deng Xiaoping's birth kicked opened on Friday with 300 people attending the opening ceremony.

More than 300 paintings and calligraphy works were on display and 179 won prizes. Most of these works were created by writers and painters to commemorate the special occasion, in order to express their love and respect to China's former senior leader.

Within one month, nearly 10,000 works were sent by Hong Kong and Macao compatriots, overseas Chinese and foreign friends.
