China to meet South Korea in women's archery team final
font size

China made the final of the women's archery team competition on Friday after holding off Chinese Taipei in a 230-226 victory at the Athens Olympic Games.

China will take on ruling champion South Korea in the final, who eased to a 249-234 convincing triumph over France in the second semifinal.

In-form South Korean archers are favored to win the title, having dominated the sport and won all the women's titles since the 1984 Olympics.

But the final presence is enough to bring smiles to the Chinese archers and coaches. "We have reached our target set before the Games, and we will try to win the gold medal," said Chinese coach Lian Guofu.

France will take on Chinese Taipei in the bronze medal playoff- match, followed by the final between South Korea and China.
