The third batch of Chinese peacekeeping forces composed of 100 members left for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Friday morning to replace the second batch of Chinese peacekeeping troops sent in April 2003.

    China begins to implement its own "Green Card" system

    China has officially started to implement its own "Green Card" system, which allows foreigners to apply for permanent residence in China, the Ministry of Public Security said Friday, August 20.

    Top leaders visit exhibition marking Deng Xiaoping's 100th birthday

    Wu Bangguo (1st L), a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communisty Party of China Central Committee and chairman of China's National People's Congress Standing Committee, visits an on-going photo, dossier and relics exhibition to mark late Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping's 100th birthday at the National Museum of China in Beijing, Aug. 19, 2004. A group of top Chinese leaders visited the exhibition Thursday. The exhibition has collected more than 320 historic photos, 50 dossiers and 140 pieces of precious relics. Many of them are open to public for the first time.
