World bronze medalist Sun Yingjie of China failed to reach the final of the women's 5,000 meters event at the Olympic Games Friday.

Sun, also the world's second fastest marathon runner, clocked 15 minutes three seconds to come seventh in heat 1. The top five qualified for the final.
