Germany wins women's single sculls gold

Katrin Rutschow-Stomporowski of Germany, 29, won the gold medal in women's single sculls Saturday.

She was bronze medalist in Sydney and champions in 1996 Atlanta in quadruple sculls.

Karsten (-Khodotovitch)E. from Belarus, 32, Olympic champions in 1996 Atlanta, was placed second.

Bulgarian Rumyana NeykovaBulgaria, 31, silver medalist in Sydney and last two years' world champions, snatched the bronze.

2. E. Karsten-Khodotovitch, Belarus, 7:22.04

3. Rumyana Neykova, Bulgaria, 7:23.10

4. Mirka Knapkova, Czech Republic, 7:25.14
