Romania bags women's coxless pairs gold

Romanian Georgeta Damian, defending champions and Viorica Susanu, Sydney champions in women's eight, came out first in seven minutes and 6.56 seconds to take the gold in women's coaxless pairs at the 28th Olympic Games Saturday morning.

Yuliya Bichyk and Natallia Helakh of Belarus, silver medalist in last year's world championships, won the silver.

Katherine Grainger and Cath Bishop of Britain, gold medal winner of 2003 world championships, finished third.
