New Zealand win women's double sculls final

New Zealand twin sisters Georgina and Caroline Evers-Swindells, the world champions in 2003 Milan world championships, bagged the gold in women's double sculls in seven minutes and 1.71 seconds at the 28th Olympic Games Saturday morning.

Georgina Evers-Swindell and Caroline Evers-Swindell from New Zealand won the gold medal in women's double sculls with a time of 7:1.79.

German Peggy Waleska, 24, and Britta Oppelt, 26, who placed third in 2003 Milan worlds in quadruple sculls, had the silver with 1.01 seconds behind.

Sarah Winckless and Elise Laverick of Britain, finished third at 5.89.
