Zhou Yongkang vows for peace in border

Chinese Public Security Minister Zhou Yongkang has vowed to promote peace, stability and development in the country's border regions.

At a meeting in Beijing, the minister says the border regions are a shield for national security as well as areas in which to develop friendly neighborhoods, China Radio International reported Saturday.

Zhou Yongkang asks governments and military forces at local levels to strengthen infrastructure construction, deepen cooperation with neighboring countries and step up frontier and coastal defences.
