South Korean men archers reasserted their dominance in the traditional sport of archery by retaining the team title with a total score of 251 points at the Athens Olympics here on Saturday.

The Koreans, who acquired a lead of one point after the first nine arrows, kept their wheels rolling in the following two rounds, expanding their advantages to four points after the second round and six points in the end.

Jang Yong ho, the three-time Korean Olympian, praised his teammates as "really the best."

Chinese Taipei got the silver medal with a total score of 245 points.

Wang Cheng Pang, who was satisfied with the outcome, said that "we are very confident with our performance, and we have tried hard to grab the gold."

Liu Ming Huang explained that the silver medal is really " unexpected" for him, but Wang stressed that they deserved it because they had made greatest efforts.

Huang Ta Chou, president of Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee, told Xinhua that he was "very pleased" with the result as it was " the best ever" for their archers.

Ukraine won the bronze in the team event, held at Panathinaiko Stadium, the birthplace of the first modern Olympic Games.
