font size

Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Sunday night delivered his first National Day Rally speech since he was sworn in as the country's third Prime Minister.

Lee's speech covered a wide range of issues, from the reforms of economy, education and society to the country's foreign policy.

While promising to train more youngsters mastering the languages of English and Chinese, Lee mentioned the issue of raising the elderly's living standards.

He expressed concern over Singapore's low birth rate and encouraged young couples to get more babies.

Lee, 52, replaced Goh Chok Tong as Singapore's third Prime Minister on Aug. 12.
