Red Cross brings aid to poverty-stricken Darfur
font size

The Int'l Red Cross will start its largest airborne operation this week since last year when it delivers aid supplies to Sudan's suffering western region of Darfur.

International Committee of the Red Cross spokesperson Marco Jimenez says that the first flight of logistical supplies will leave Geneva for the Sudanese capital Khartoum on Tuesday evening.

Six flights have been scheduled so far and will include water supplies, medicine, and four-wheel drive vehicles.

The International Red Cross has 1200 expatriates in Sudan, 700 of whom are dealing with the situation in Darfur.
