Men's basketball attendance reaches 80 percent in Athens

Attendance of the Olympic matches from the five-day preliminary round of the men's basketball competition amounted to 80 percent of the capacity of the Hilliniko Indoor Arena, according to data released by the Tickets Office of the Arena on August 24.

A total of 144,510 tickets were sold for the men's tournament, out of possible 180,000.

Fourteen games tickets were sellouts and almost all evening games were sold out (12,000 tickets), with the opening date just falling short (11,560).

Of all afternoon games, only Aug. 15 (10,500) and Aug. 21 (8, 000) fell short of yielding a full house.

On Day 4 of the tournament (Aug. 21), a landmark 10,350 spectators attended the morning games, compared to 8,950 for Day 3 (Aug. 19) and 7,650 for Day 5 (Aug. 23).
