New Czech govt wins confidence vote in Chamber of DeputiesThe Czech Chamber of Deputies voted to give confidence to the new government of Prime Minister Stanislav Gross on Tuesday evening by a slim margin. The coalition government of Social Democrats (CSSD) received the votes of all 101 of its deputies while all the 99 opposition deputies voted against it. All the 200 members of the Chamber took part in the vote. The CSSD, junior government Christian Democrats and the junior government Freedom Union deputies came together to support the government, while all of the senior opposition Civic Democrats and the junior opposition Communist Party deputies voted against it. No deputy abstained form the vote. The vote ends the nearly two-month long government crisis that began at the beginning of June when former Prime Minister VladimirSpidla resigned as prime minister and head of the CSSD.
