Jordan, Palestine reiterate calls for ending Israeli occupation

Jordanian Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher and his Palestinian counterpart Nabil Shaath on Wednesda yreiterated calls for ending the Israeli occupation in Gaza. The two ministers, after meeting at the Jordanian Foreign Ministry, said the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza should be part ofthe internationally-backed roadmap peace plan.

In a statement following their meeting, Muasher expressed his country's wish to boost the relations between Jordan and the Palestinian National Authority (PNA).

The two sides share the common objective over ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state, Muasher told reporters.

Shaath spent a few hours in Amman Wednesday on his way from the West Bank to Rome.
