Spain's Iker Martinez and Xavier Fernandez won the Olympic gold medal in men's sailing 49er at the Athens Olympics in Athens on August 26.

Martinez/Fernandez, who had already secured the gold before Thursday's last race, tallied a winning score of 67 points.

Rodion Luka and George Leonchuk of Ukraine, who ranked number two in the world, finished third in race 16 on Thursday and were the runner-up overall with 72 points.

British pair Chris Draper and Simon Hiscocks took bronze with 77 points.
