Newly crowned men's 110m hurdles champion Liu Xiang said that he will get better in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
Liu, who won the gold in a stunning world record-equalling time of 12.91 seconds, said: "I will be only 26 years old in 2008 and I believe that I will reach my peak at that time and can do better then."
The Shanghai native said that the Beijing Olympics will be " most successful" in Olympic history.
"Chinese people have first-class management ability and the Beijing Olympics will the most successful one," Liu said.
"That will be a good chance for me at that time and I will take that chance."
Liu, who had a personal best time of 13.06 seconds before the race, said that he never expected to run inside 13 seconds or win the gold medal.
"My goal in the Games was just to win a medal of any colors," he said.
As a result, the winning time surprised him greatly.
"It's an incredible time," he said. "It's a miracle."
But he stressed that with the help of his coach and his own hard work, he can create more miracles in the future.
"Please believe me, I can create more miracles in my future career."
He said that victory in this event, which has long been dominated by European and American athletes, demonstrated that Asian people can run as well as American and African athletes in short hurdles event and sprints.
"I hope that the result will change the mind of the world that we can even do better than Americans and Africans."
"I will train very hard to demonstrate that there is me in Asian and in China," he added.
