font size

Jacques Chirac announced France would receive the Iraqi President, Ghazi al-Yawar, in early September.

French President Jacques Chirac announced the decision during a major speech to French envoys from around the world who had gathered in the presidential palace of Elysee. China Radio International reported Saturday.

Chirac said that France supports the complete integration of Iraq with a restored sovereignty in its regional environment and will accompany Iraq in its restoration process.

He said that with a view to elections scheduled for early 2005, France is happy to talk with the Iraqi authorities on any subject, and he personally will receive the Iraqi president in this context early this September.

The Iraqi president is expected to start a European tour that will take him to Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. Chirac did not give a date for the president's visit to France.
