Myanmar PM stresses promotion of Sino-Myanmar cooperation
font size

Myanmar Prime Minister General KhinNyunt has stressed promotion of Sino-Myanmar cooperation in all sectors and making concerted efforts for speedy implementation of the agreements between the two countries.

Khin Nyunt made the call here Friday at a coordinating meeting on implementation of agreements between Myanmar and China and cooperation in all sectors, according to Saturday's official newspaper The New Light of Myanmar.

As there have been exchanges of goodwill visits between the two nations' high-ranking officials including the state leaders, the two countries were able to sign agreements on mutual cooperation as a result, he said, adding that it is needed for the relevant ministries to accelerate their integrated and well-coordinated efforts for speedy implementation of the agreements.

China and Myanmar signed here a package of 21 agreements during Chinese Vice-Premier Wu Yi's visit to Myanmar in March and 12 more such ones were also signed during Myanmar Prime Minister General Khin Nyunt's goodwill visit to China in July.

According to Chinese official statistics, China-Myanmar bilateral trade, including border trade, reached 1.07 billion US dollars in 2003 with China's exports to Myanmar amounting to 900 million dollars and its imports from Myanmar 170 million dollars. China has proposed an increase of bilateral trade volume to 1.5 billion dollars by 2005.
