Pakistani PM-elect takes parliament confidence vote

Pakistani Prime Minister- elect Shaukat Aziz Saturday secured vote of confidence in the National Assembly (NA), the powerful lower house of the parliament,a requirement under the country's constitution.

Shaukat Aziz secured 191 votes in the 340-member house, as the opposition camp in the NA boycotted the voting session.

In his speech after the voting, Aziz expressed gratitude to those who vote for him and call on the opposition to join hand with the ruling party "to serve the nation."

Aziz was elected Prime Minister on Friday and sworn in earlier Saturday.
