One Chinese killed by armed robbers in JohannesburgA Chinese man was killed by four armed robbers at his home in Johannesburg on Friday night. Police Sergeant Glawin Mashigo told Xinhua that the incident occurred at about 9 p.m. (1900 GMT) when Mr. Li from Guangdong province was stabbed to death when he entered his home. The police said that the robbers who hidden in yard stabbed the Chinese in his neck and the artery was broken. The robbers ran away after they took away the car owned by the Chinese and his two friends. This is the seventh Chinese killed in South African since the beginning of this year. South Africa is labeled as the capital of crime in the world. A recent survey shows that significantly less South Africans feel safe in 2003 than they did in 1998. In 1998, 60 percent said they felt very safe walking in the areas where they live during the day; this figure dropped to only 25 percent in 2003. At night, only 25 percent said they feel very unsafe in 1998 compared to 58 percent in 2003. |
