Palestine to set up 3-party reform committee
font size

The Palestinian government will set up a three-party committee to effectively implement its reform plan. Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei announced the decision on Sunday.

The committee, composed by Chairman, Prime Minister, and the legislature, is aimed at promoting internal cooperation in making and implementing plans for governmental reforms. China Radio International reported Monday.

He also said the committee would focus on maintaining peace in Palestine-controlled area, restoring local law and order, and stabilizing the political situation.

Last week the Palestinian President Yasser Arafat has pledged to reform the Palestinian government to correct the mistakes it made before.

On last Wednesday the Palestinian legislature overwhelmingly accepted a set of recommendations calling for reforms in the Palestinian Authority.
