Top congratulates China's athletes

The Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and State Council sent a letter of congratulations to Chinese sports team that has clinched 63 metals, including 32 golds, in the Athens Olympic Games. "China and the Chinese people are proud of you," said the letter.

The telegram said that the athletes' great endeavor has achieved unprecedented results for China.

It paid tribute to the outstanding athletic skills and sportsmanship demonstrated by China's athletes and said their performance was a great boost to the country ahead of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

The telegram also encouraged the members of the Olympic team to strive to take their skills to a higher level.
