China attaches great importance to the development of Sino-Nigerien army-to-army relations, said Liang Guanglie, chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), in Beijing Monday.

Liang, also member of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks during his talks with the visiting Nigerien Chief of General Staff Boureima Moumouni.

Liang said China and Niger, with mutual respect and support, have expanded their cooperation in recent years, and China appreciates Niger's support on the issues concerned with Taiwan and human rights.

Liang said China is willing to make joint efforts with Niger to promote the friendly cooperation between the two armed forces.

Boureima reiterated Niger's adherence to the one-China policy, expressing his belief that this visit will further promote the existing friendly cooperation between the two armed forces.

Boureima and his party arrived here Sunday on a seven-day official goodwill visit to China as Liang's guest.
