Diplomats Congratulate Chinese Athelets

Some 200 representatives of Chinese diplomatic envoys have telegrammed the Chinese Olympic team to congratulate them on their achievements in the 28th Olympic Games.

At the end of a five-day meeting in Beijing, the Chinese diplomats said the athletes' great endeavor has achieved unprecedented results for China. The telgram added that all Chinese diplomats are greatly encouraged by the outstanding athletic skills and sportsmanship demonstrated by China's athletes.

The diplomats also vowed to promote friendship between Chinese people and people from other countries, and make unending efforts for world peace and development.

Meanwhile, media in Hong Hong have also praised the performance of Chinese athletes at the Games.

Wenwei Daily said their performance was a great boost to the country ahead of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
