China attaches great importance to developing its cooperative ties with the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea, said Wang Zhaoguo, president of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU), in Beijing Monday afternoon.

Wang, also vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress, made the remarks during his meeting with the delegation of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea, led by its President Ryom Sun Gil.

He said the ACFTU has urged workers to work hard to build a well-off society.

To develop the friendly cooperation between the two organizations and to increase the friendship between the workers of the two counties conform to the fundamental interest of the people and also benefit the stability, peace and development in Asia, Wang said. The two organizations should work hard for the friendship of China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Ryom Sun Gil said by this visit he had seen with his eyes the hard and arduous work that Chinese people have done in building a prosperous society.

He said he hoped that the two countries and their people will continue their friendship and the unions will strengthen exchanges and cooperation.

The DPRK delegation is on a four-day China visit from Aug. 28 to 31 as the ACFTU's guest. The delegation also visited North China's Tianjin Municipality.
