Mongolian President Nachagyn Bagabandy said Monday that his country and the Democratic People'sRepublic of Korea (DPRK) need to further boost bilateral relations.

In talks with Pak Jo-do, the DPRK's ambassador to Mongolia, whohas just presented his credentials following the re-opening of theDPRK's embassy in Ulan Bator, Bagabandy said the two countries must strengthen cooperation in such fields as culture, education, economy and agriculture.

The president also stressed Mongolia's fundamental position to solve the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula peacefully.

Mongolia and the DPRK established diplomatic relations in 1948 but the DPRK closed its embassy in Ulan Bator in 1999.

The embassy was re-opened on Aug. 6 this year.
