font size

A recent survey by the State Information Center of 24 major commercial cities, including Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin, shows that people prefer new TV models, demonstrating a commercial opportunity in China's TV market.

Released by senior center official Chu Liaoyuan at the 2004 Shanghai Color TV Festival, the survey noted that liquid crystal and plasma TV sets sold well in the 24 cities during the first half year.

Though there was a decrease of TVs sold, sales increased by 14 percentage points over the same period last year.

According to the survey, the sale of liquid crystal TVs more than doubled in 17 cities of the 24, while sale of plasma TV doubled in four cities.

In Shanghai, high-end TVs have a market share of 5.07 percent, compared with 0.44 percent in 2003.
