China, UNCTAD to hold int'l forum on economic development

China and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) will jointly host an international forum on Chinese and world trade and economy next month in Beijing.

Hosted by the Ministry of Commerce, UNCTAD and the People's University of China, the seminar will be held on Sept. 10 in Beijing, first of its kind jointly sponsored by a Chinese government department, a higher educational institute and the UNCTAD, an official with the MOC said here Tuesday.

Subjects of the seminar include "new situation of global trade:status and function of China", "new situation of international direct investment: chance and challenge", "regional economic cooperation: trend and characteristic" and "fair play: conflict and harmony".

Chinese and UNCTAD senior officials, scholars and the representatives of multinational companies from home and abroad will attend the forum.
