A central government official on Thursday congratulated incumbent Macao Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah on winning a second term of office.

Bai Zhijian, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) sent a congratulation letter to Ho upon his appointment by the State Council as Macao's chief executive for the second term.

Bai said that Ho has faithfully fulfilled his duty bestowed by the Basic Law, and united Macao people in creating a sound economic and social status over the past five years.

He believed that Ho's political wisdom and strong sense of responsibility would lead Macao for a better future.

The liaison office will continue to do its duties empowered by the central government and strive unremittingly to support the Macao SAR government in implementing the principle of "one country,two systems" and maintaining prosperity and stability of Macao, Bai said.
