Cheney accepts Republican vice presidential nomination

US vice president Dick Cheney said on Wednesday night that he accepted the nomination of US vice presidential candidate, pledging that he would make current president George W. Bush for one more term.

"I accept your nomination for vice president of the United States," Cheney said in a speech delivered at the Republican National Convention.

Cheney, believed to be one of the powerful vice presients in US history, also vowed to "make George W. Bush president for another four years."

The four-day Republican convention opened here on Monday and is expected to end on Thursday night, with a culmination of Bush's speech to accept the nomination by the Republican delegates of presidentail candidate.
