Commissioner of the Foreign Ministryin China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Wan Yongxiang on Thursday congratulated incumbent Macao SAR Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah on winning a second term of office.

In a letter to Ho, Wan Yongxiang said that Ho won the election for the second term with an extremely high supporting rate, which reflects the Macao people's heartfelt acclamation towards their regional leader.

Wan hoped Ho would make greater achievements in leading the Macao people to implement the principle of "one country, two systems" and fulfill his commitment in the election platform.

Ho, who won the election through a ballot by a 300-strong Election Committee in Macao last Sunday, was appointed as the Macao SAR chief executive by the State Council Wednesday. Ho's second term as chief executive will begin on Dec. 20, 2004.
