Beijing to hold talent contest
font size

A senior official with the Beijing municipal government has announced that the city will launch a talent contest, with 5 outstanding winners receiving 1 million yuan or 120,000 US dollars each, a record award for this kind of competition in the capital.

The candidates must hold Chinese nationality and should have made outstanding achievements in areas such as scientific research, business management and key projects within Beijing, reported China Radio International.

Candidates can be recommended by the institutions to which they are affiliated, or they can recommend themselves, and since there is no limit on the number of entrants, it should be a competition of a size that will match the huge prizes on offer.

This decision to hold a contest was made after the city government laid down guidelines aiming to encourage talented citizens to make greater contributions to the development of Beijing.
