DPRK, Chinese officials hail long-standing friendship
font size

Kim Yong-nam, top legislator of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), met here Friday with a Chinese delegation and the two sides stressed long-standing friendship between China and the DPRK.

Kim, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, told the delegation of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), headed by CPPCC Vice-Chairman Li Zhaozhuo, that bilateral friendship has developed steadily under the new generation of leaders in both countries.

During the meeting at the Mansudae Assembly Hall, Kim expressed the belief that the people of the DPRK would overcome their temporary difficulties and achieve happiness eventually.

Li, for his part, said China supports Pyongyang's efforts at pursuing a development path that suits the country's actual conditions, seeking an independent and peaceful reunification, and improving its international environment.

Both sides expressed the conviction that bilateral friendship would flourish no matter what changes occur on the international arena.

The CPPCC delegation, which arrived here on Aug. 28, will wrap up their eight-day visit on Saturday.
