A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Beijing on September 4 said enhancing cooperation between China and Sri Lanka serves fundamental interest of the two peoples.

Luo Gan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks in meeting with delegations of the People's Liberation Front of Sri Lanka led by Somawansa Amarasinghe, Sri Lanka Freedom Party led by Nimal Perera, Communist Party of Sri Lanka led by Raja Collure and United National Party of Sri Lanka led by Jayawickrama Perera.

The guests came to China to attend the third International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP).

"China attaches great importance to Sino-Sri Lanka relations, willing to take joint effort with Sri Lanka to boost the bilateral relations to a new level," Luo said, speaking highly of party relations between the two countries.

The guests said the ICAPP provides good opportunities for Asianparties to exchange views on regional security, cooperation and development.
