To raise the openness and transparency of judicial work the Supreme People's Court will further improve its information release system, and publish on its bulletin more information on judicial activities on a monthly basis.

The Supreme People's Court has disclosed more information on trial works on its bulletin this year. The information made known to the public include: the litigation procedure and the verdicts of major and typical lawsuits. From such information, the public will be able to learn the general situation of various civil lawsuits heard by the Supreme Court; typical cases heard by local courts and statistics of cases heard nationwide, the trial duration and trial methods. In addition they will also know detailed information regarding trial of various cases by the grand justice of the Supreme People's Court, the senior judges serving as presiding judge and assistant presiding judges and other veterans judges.

The further publication of judicial information of various kinds is a measure that facilitates the public to better exercise their rights of learning the truth and rights of participating in and supervising the court work. It is also an important measure to put up a just image of the justice. It also helps carry out the Supreme Court's requirements "judicial work should serve the people", stressed Cao Jianming, vice president of the Supreme People's Court.

Putting trial activities under the supervision of the public, disclosing the trial procedure, principles and reasons for verdict to the public not only show fairness of the judicial work and help eradicate corruption, but also make the people better understand the laws and respect laws. This will make judicial judgment more authoritative in regulating varied social relations, and better exerts its function of dispute settlement.
