China values the relationship with St. Lucia and will expand cooperation in all fields, said Chinese Vice-President Zeng Qinghong in Beijing on September 6 in a meeting with Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy, governor-general of St. Lucia.

The relationship between China and St. Lucia has developed quickly, and the cooperation is fruitful in the bilateral and multilateral areas, said Zeng.

China has offered aid to St. Lucia and helped the social and economic development of the country.

Zeng expressed appreciation to Saint Lucia's adherence to the one-China policy.

Zeng said China values cooperation between the two governments and friendship between the two peoples, expressing his hope that the two sides could maintain high-rank exchanges and expand contacts between the governmental, legislature and party organs.

The two sides should further economic and trade cooperation based on the mutual benefit and win-win principles, Zeng said, expressing the welcome for Saint Lucia to attend ministerial conference for the first China-Caribbean Trade Forum that is to beheld on the beginning of next year.

Zeng vowed that China would maintain the good momentum of the bilateral cooperation in cultural, education and journalism sectors and boost collaboration in tourism industry.

Louisy agreed with Zeng's views on the current bilateral ties and the proposed key sectors of cooperation.

China and Saint Lucia forged friendly relations on the basis of the principle of peaceful coexistence since the two nations established diplomatic relation seven years ago, Louisy said, stressing that upholding one-China policy is one of the important principles in Saint Lucia's policies with China and the country would continue to adhere to it.

Louisy noted that Saint Lucia's government and people would never forget the precious assistance offered by China and expects to establish fruitful cooperation of mutual benefits with China.

After the meeting, Zeng and Louisy participated in a signing ceremony for the China-Saint Lucia economic and technological cooperation agreement.
