Chinese FM kicks off visit to Saudi Arabia

Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing arrived in Jeddah Monday evening, kicking off a four-day official visit to Saudi Arabia.

During his visit, Li will meet with senior Saudi officials on bilateral relations, joint cooperation, and regional and international issues of common interest, including the situation in the Palestinian territories, the latest developments in Iraq and other peace and security issues in the region.

Li is also expected to meet with Abdul Rahman Al-Attiya, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, to exchange views on China-GCC cooperative relations in different fields.

Li is currently on an Arab tour which will also take him to Yemen, Oman and Egypt.

The Chinese foreign minister is expected to participate during his tour in the first session of the Ministerial Meeting of the Forum on Cooperation between China and Arab States to be held at the headquarters of the Arab League (AL) in Cairo, Egypt.

In addition, China and the Arab countries will sign documents on the forum.
