Early settlement of boundary issue accords with interests of China, India: FM spokesman
font size

To solve the boundary issue between China and India at an early date accords with the common interests of the two countries, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan Tuesday.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh told journalists Saturday that India will continue to promote the process of solving border dispute with China, and will establish steady cooperative ties with China.

When asked to make comments on Singh's words, Kong said at a regular press conference that India is an important neighbor of China, and constantly deepening the Sino-Indian long-term constructive and cooperative partnership is the sincere hope and existing policy of the Chinese government.

Kong said the Chinese side is willing to maintain the good momentum of development in the Sino-Indian ties, under the guidance of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence.

The boundary issue can be solved in a fair, reasonable and acceptable way, as long as the two sides take the overall situation into account and make consultations based on equality and mutual understanding and mutual accommodation, Kong noted.
